- Abstract:
- Bei 149 Plattenepithelkarzinomen war es unter Anwendung von rt-PCR mit fünf verschiedenen Primern und Sequenzierung möglich, in 13 Fällen die spezifische EGFRvIII-Basensequenz nachzuweisen. Es konnte allerdings keine prognostische Relevanz von EGFRvIII gezeigt werden und es zeigte sich lediglich ein Fall durch rt-PCR und Immunhistochemie eindeutig als EGFRvIII positiv mit Proteinexpression, sodass die klinische Bedeutung von EGFRvIII bei dieser Tumorentität fraglich scheint.

- Conducting rt-PCR with five different primers and sequencing in addition, it was possible to detect the specific EGFRvIII nucleic acid sequence in 13 of 149 HNSCC tissue samples. However, it was not possible to show any prognostic relevance of EGFRvIII and there was just one case that was detected clearly by rt-PCR with all used primers and immunohistochemical staining to be EGFRvIII positive with protein expression. Altogether, this casts doubt on the relevance of EGFRvIII in HNSCC.
