This work aims to solve the sensorless control problems of concentrated winding PMSM (cwSPMSM). The multiple-saliency model of the cwSPMSM is built and the physical reason for causing the secondary saliency signal is explained. Three saliency tracking based sensorless control methods are proposed for the low speed range operation and standstill. For higher speed operation, three fundamental model based sensorless control methods and the corresponding parameter identification are comparatively studied.
