In this study the combination of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells and allothermal biomass gasification systems is investigated. Several problem fields are addressed, such as gas cleaning, exhaust heat utilization and overall heat integration, thus aiming for higher system efficiency, increased flexibility and lower cost. Furthermore experimental activities are described, which consider the effect of tarry substances from the gasifier on solid oxide fuel cells.
