Aim of this study was the assessment of immunogenicity and immunologic tolerance of allogenic and autofetal amniotic membrane in a pig model. In both groups an uneventful healing of the transplanted regions could be seen. There were no signs of rejection reactions such as inflammation, desquamation or necrosis detectable. Results of the performed tests substantiate these results. We have shown that both, the allogenic and autofetal membrane, work as a biocompatible material and can be transplanted even in immunocompetent areas.
