Abstract:
Meningeome der Schädelbasis führen häufig zur Affektion des Sehnervs mit konsekutivem Sehverlust. Die optimale chirurgische Technik und das Ausmaß der knöchernen Resektion sind bisher jedoch nicht standardisiert. In einer Serie von 46 Patienten konnten wir nachweisen, dass eine zusätzliche anteriore Klinoidektomie zur Meningeomresektion eine signifikant höhere postoperative Verbesserung der Sehfunktion ermöglichen konnte.

Meningiomas of the skull base regularly invade the optic canal and cause visual loss by optic nerve compression. However, the optimal surgical technique and extent of bony resection are not standardized. We analyzed a series of 46 patients undergoing meningioma resection with and without anterior clinoidectomy (AC). Our results show that patients receiving AC have a significantly better visual improvement compared to the patients undergoing less widened bony decompression maneuvers.
