Die Osteoradionekrose tritt hierbei früher auf, Dekortikationen können eine Kontinuitätsresektion des Kiefers hinauszögern. Die Ausdehnung der Kieferteilresektion umfasst jedoch signifikant mehr Segmente, je größer das Zeitintervall zwischen Diagnosezeitpunkt der Osteoradionekrose bis zur Kieferteilresektion war. Um dies zu verhindern, ist eine frühzeitige interdisziplinäre Zusammenarbeit von großer Relevanz.     «

Osteonecrosis of the jaw is a steadily progressing disease, often leading to a segmental mandibulectomy. Aim of this study was to compare the progress of medication-related osteonecrosis and osteoradionecrosis of the jaw. Osteoradionecrosis occurs earlier than medication-related osteonecrosis. Decortications can delay the necessity of a segmental mandibulectomy. The extent of mandibulectomy encompasses significantly more interdiciplinary cooperation to prevent a presentation of the patients at a late stage.     «
