Die Kontrastmittelnephropathie (KMN) ist eine häufige Ursache des akuten Nierenversagens. Zur medikamentösen Prophylaxe mit der Kombination Theophyllin plus Natriumbikarbonat gab es bisher keine Daten. In die vorliegende doppelblinde Studie wurden n = 152 Patienten randomisiert. Die Verum-Gruppe erhielt Natriumbikarbonat plus Theophyllin, die Kontrollgruppe Natriumchlorid plus Theophyllin. In der Verum-Gruppe zeigte sich eine signifikant niedrigere Inzidenz der KMN (9,0% vs. 1,4%; p=0,035). Dies spricht für einen additiven Effekt von Natriumbikarbonat zusätzlich zu Theophyllin.     «

Contrast induced nephropathy (CIN) is a frequent cause of acute renal failure. So far there has been no data for prophylaxis of CIN by the drug combination of theophylline plus sodium bicarbonate. N = 152 patients were included and randomized in this double-blind study. The verum-group received a hydration with sodium bicarbonate plus theophylline. The control group received saline chloride with theophylline. Due to the additive effects of sodium bicarbonate and theophylline there was a significantly lower incidence of CIN in the verum-group (9.0 % vs. 1.4% ; p = 0.035).     «
