- We use the Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model to investigate the structure of the phase diagram of quantum chromodynamics. A self-consistent cutoff scheme for the 2+1 flavor PNJL model is introduced and demonstrated to be superior to previously used schemes. The influence of parameters on the critical point in the phase diagram is discussed and estimates are given for realistic values of these parameters.
