Due to advanced cancer therapies and therefore prolonged survival in patients after diagnose of primary tumors, the occurrence of secondary neoplasms manifested as cutaneous metastases may increase.
The aim of this study is to demonstrate the prevalence and localisation of primary tumors and related cutaneous metastases in 391 patients of the Dermatologische Klinik Biederstein Germany and the Gemeinschaftspraxis Pathologie in Starnberg, Germany. In particular, this investigation aims to elaborate the relationship between localisation of primary tumors and skin areas that are affected by skin metastases and vice versa. Patients' age and gender will be considered.
The „Sister Mary Joseph's Nodule“, the cutaneous metastasis in the umbilicus area, is given as a special case.
