The present work assessed various imaging modalities for the detection of rheumatoid arthritis in its early stages in a murine model. To this end, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) analysis of contrast enhanced MR images was compared with the scoring by a radiologist and with the clinical symptoms. Moreover, the sensitivity of
68Ga-Aquibeprin based PET was compared with that of
68Ga-Avebetrin based PET imaging. Both the SNR analysis and
68Ga-Aquibeprin based PET were superior to conventional methods in terms of the early detection of rheumatoid arthritis.
