This PhD thesis describes the conception of an automated platform for experiments with living cells and tissue. The major parts of this work are the integration of multiple measurement parameters into one system, its automation and increase of its throughput. Combining the detection of pH-, pO2-value and cell-impedance while at the same time acquiring microscopic images, the platform permits an unmatched multiparametric insight in cellular behaviour. The system’s functionality could be validated in a number of different experiment settings.
