In this thesis, a palladium-catalyzed C-C coupling of phenols was developed using carbamates as ortho-directing groups. Throughout all investigated reactions, an oxidative coupling at the ortho- or para-positions of the phenol could be observed. When subjecting 27 different phenols to the reaction conditions, 19 led to the desired C-C coupled products, whereas 8 yielded no biaryl products. Furthermore, in an additional study in this thesis, a model substrate for the natural product (+)-tetrandrin was successfully synthesized in six steps.
