For this preliminary study CBCT-scans and photogrammetric images of patients treated with Surgically Assisted Rapid Palatal Expansion (SARPE) were reviewed. Postoperative hard and soft tissue changes as well as airway alterations were assessed. Additionally postoperative effects of SARPE were simulated. Occasionally significant changes after SARPE could be demonstrated, influencing factors were revealed and reliable simulation methods developed. The results could form the basis for further research in orthognathic surgery.
