Abstract:
This study examines the effect of transient fetal hypoxia on the development of pulmonary hypertension (PH) as an adult in nmf333 mice, which are deficient in p22phox. P22phox activates NOX 1-4 (NADPH oxidases), which are producing reactive oxygen species (ROS). Control group showed signs of PH as an adult, while nmf333 mice were protected against this effect. P22phox deficiency also protects against oxidative DNA damage and ROS production in vivo and in vitro.
