In this thesis we investigated via a combined immunohistochemical-immunofluorescent triple staining the interaction between vascularisation and innervation in human and murine pancreatic and human colorectal cancer. We could show for all three entities a positive correlation. In the next step we performed PCR-based arrays of angiogenesis and neurogenesis to investigate the RNA expression patters associated with neurogenesis and angiogenesis in these tumors. IL6 and MMP9 were found to be the key regulators of neurogenesis or angiogenesis in these entities.
