This study investigated the association between cerebral ischaemia localisation and abnormalities of autonomous biosignals. We non-invasively recorded the autonomous parameters Baroreflex Sensitivity, Deceleration Capacity, mean Respiratory Rate, Expiration-triggered Sinus Arrhythmia and mean Heart Rate of 100 ischaemic stroke patients. Subsequently a lesion symptom mapping based on MRI and established dichotomy limits was done. Associations between autonomous dysbalance and lesions of the insula, the pons, the cingulate cortex and the basal ganglia could be shown.
