Den Ausgangspunkt der Arbeit bildet die These, dass die Konfiguration eines Quality Gates mit dem Ziel eines optimalen Qualitätscontrollings gemäß der Systemumwelt, der spezifischen Prozessschnittstelle und des Qualitätsmanagementsystems erfolgen sollte. Es wird unterstellt, dass unterschiedliche Quality-Gate-Typen jeweils unterschiedliche Konfigurationen erfordern. Dazu werden Einflussgrößen und Gestaltungsfelder systematisch zu einem ganzheitlichen Modell verdichtet, welches über eine empirische Untersuchung von n=57 Quality Gates plausibilisiert wurde. Zudem werden Hypothesen abgeleitet und empirisch überprüft. Im Ergebnis konnten empirisch begründete, typspezifische Handlungsempfehlungen für die Qualitätsprüfung, die Qualitätslenkung, das Berichtswesen und den Personaleinsatz eines Quality Gates formuliert werden.     «

Starting point of the paper is the thesis that the configuration of a quality gate should be designed according to the system environment, the specific process interface, and the quality management system in order to allow for an optimal quality control. The underlying assumption is that different types of quality gates require different configurations. For that purpose determining factors and design leverages are systematically combined to a holistic model, that was justified by an empirical analysis of n=57 quality gates. In addition, 48 hypotheses were developed and tested empirically. As a result, the paper delivers empirically validated, type specific recommendations für quality testing, quality control, quality reporting, and staff assignment of a quality gate.     «
