Brown adipose tissue (BAT) with it’s high energy-burning effect plays an important role in the research and development of new treatments against widespread diseases like obesity or diabetes mellitus. Active BAT shows a high glucose uptake in PET-imaging. With this imaging modality a group of BAT-positive patients was identified and analysed by specific criteria. By comparing various characteristics with those from a BAT-negative control group some potential influence factors to modulate BAT-activity could be evaluated.
