FDG positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) is a powerful diagnostic tool in advanced melanoma, but due to the relatively unspecific tracer uptake of FDG in all organs that are processing glucose, unclear results or even false positive results are not uncommon despite ideal preparation of patients. By reference to an exemplary case series, this dissertation shall sensitize to this topic and consequently reduce the occurrence of false positive results in PET/CT interpretation in melanoma imaging.
