Sudden cardiac death is one of the major causes of death in western nations. Patients after myocardial infarction are particularly threatened. For high risk patients automatic implantable cardioverter defibrillators constitute an effective prophylaxis. For economic and medical reasons it is therefore necessary to determine high risk patients. With the commonly used methods it is not possible to assign every patient to a risk group. For those patients an implantable risk monitor should be developed to continuously monitor the patients individual risk. At this time, with our setting, it does not seem to be possible to realise such a device.
