Highly active and selective integrin ligands can be applied on both the inhibition and promotion of integrin-mediated cell adhesion. The inhibitory effect of oligomers of an active decapeptide in comparison to its cyclic homologous was investigated. Furthermore, integrin ligands with different integrin selectivities were immoblilized on gold nanodot surfaces in order to promote cell adhesion and to establish their impact on focal adhesion morphology.
In terms of the development of new antibiotics, lead structures for the inhibition of riboflavin synthase were evaluated by 19F-screening. Additionally, structural investigations on the active enzyme were performed by in-vitro selective labelling of certain amino acids and subsequent NMR-based titration studies.
