BACKGROUND: Biodegradable implants have gained increasing importance for the fixation of simple displaced radial head fractures to supersede implant removal and to minimize cartilage destruction. Commonly used polylactide pins still lead to higher rates of secondary loss of reduction compared with metal implants.
