- Abstract:
- Electrolytes, which are components of electrocatalytic systems, largely determine their performance. The catalytic role of so-called ‘spectator species’ i.e. electrolyte components, which are not directly involved into the reactions, have largely been ignored. In this thesis, the influence of alkali metal cations on electrocatalytic reactions and the electric double layer were explored for various model metal electrodes.

- Elektrolyte, die Bestandteile elektrokatalytischer Systeme sind, bestimmen im Wesentlichen deren Verhalten. Die Rolle der sogenannten "Zuschauer-Spezies", d.h. der Elektrolytkomponenten, die nicht direkt in die Reaktionen eingebunden sind, weitgehend ignoriert. In dieser Arbeit wurde der Einfluss von Alkalimetallkationen auf elektrokatalytische Reaktionen und die elektrischen Doppelschichten für verschiedene metallbasierte Modellelektroden zu untersuchen.
