- Abstract:
- Maturity Onset Diabetes of the Young (MODY) is a monogenic form of diabetes with an autosomal dominant inheritance pattern, however the pathomechanisms of MODY4 have not been understood well. This thesis addresses how Pancreas/duodenum homeobox protein 1 (PDX1) coordinates human pancreas development at the molecular level, and how some very common missense mutations in the transactivation domain of PDX1 predispose to diabetes mellitus.
