Der Lichen sclerosus (LS) ist eine chronisch-entzündliche Hauterkrankung v.a. der Genitalregion. Unbehandelt führt er oft zu Vernarbungen sowie selten zu maligner Transformation. Unsere Studie ergab, dass der LS zwei verschiedene Formen aufweist: den LS des Kindesalters, der mit einer genetischen Prädisposition und einer besseren Prognose assoziiert ist und den LS des Erwachsenenalters mit betont peri-menopausalem Beginn und Neigung zu Autoimmunität. Eine frühzeitige und konsequente Therapie schützt vor den Komplikationen und führt gehäuft peripubertär zur Abheilung.     «

Lichen sclerosus is a chronic inflammatory skin disease primarily affecting the genital area. It often leads to genital strictures and sometimes to malignant transformation without treatment. Our study suggests that there are two subgroups of LS: LS of the young that is associated with genetic predisposition and better prognosis, as well as LS of the adult that goes along with peri-menopausal beginning and a tendency to other autoimmune diseases. Early and consequent treatment prevents complications and leads to more healing, especially around puberty.      «
