Kurzfassung:
In this thesis, we investigate the optical and excitonic properties of atomically flat transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) embedded in nano-devices.
We demonstrate electrical control of excitons and their emission polarization by means of an externally applied electric field and through symmetry breaking.
Moreover, we show a significant reduction of the excitonic emission linewidths and optically investigate emergent quantum emitters in hexagonal boron nitride and TMD heterostructures.
