In this thesis, deuterium incorporation from D
2O into bacteria was investigated using confocal Raman microscopy. Applying this Raman-imaging-based method, the effects of different antibi-otics on M. smegmatis and M. tuberculosis were studied with subcellular spatial resolution. Different modes of action were observed. In a second part, the reaction kinetics and mechanism of hydrogenation of 4-nitrothiophenol (4-NTP) to 4-aminothiophenol (4-ATP) were systemati-cally investigated via surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS).
