This thesis addresses automotive operations management in the context of product platforms and modularization. We propose a reference process for integrated business planning at automotive manufacturers and provide a structured review of academic optimization approaches for the resulting integration challenges. Furthermore, we study the decision problems resulting from two selected challenges, the problem of time-phased capacity planning and the problem of dynamic platform planning, and propose optimization approaches.
