Abstract:
The adsorption process of sulfate on well defined Cu(111) single crystal electrodes from a 5 mM H2SO4 soln. was studied by in-situ IR reflection absorption spectroscopy (IRAS) and electrochem. scanning tunneling microscopy (EC-STM). The well known formation of a Moire-like structure upon adsorption of sulfate on Cu(111) imaged by STM is supplemented by IR measurements of the initial stages of sulfate adsorption. Sulfate adsorption starts at a potential noticeably lower (more cathodic) than the p...     »
