It was assumed, that causes for the development of a bisphosphonate related osteonecrosis of the jaw, was an oversupression of the mandibular bone due to the increased metabolism, in comparison to other sceletal regions. By the investigation of scintigraphies, the metabolism of jawbones did not demonstrate a significant increase in comparison to the femur and the frontal bone region. Neither does the antiresorptive therapy had any influence on the bone turnover of all investigated sceletal regions.
