In this work, the waste heat potential from the German manufacturing sector is evaluated. For the first time in a Germany wide study, real company data is evaluated with specially developed semi automated systematic to define a sound lower boundary value. For 2008 the evaluated lower boundary value for the industrial waste heat in Germany in exhaust gas streams based on the evaluated companies is 127 PJ/a. Furthermore, the influence of the assumptions and uncertainties of the evaluation are analyzed and discussed, as well as technical and economic constrains.
