Despite advanced medicine diagnosis of prostate cancer remains a challenge. Publications relating to mp-MRI of the prostate are showing promising results. Our retrospective study of 177 patients evaluates the value of pre-biopsy mp-MRI in an ambulatory care setting. Sensitivity, specificity, NPV and PPV of 94%, 91%, 96% and 86% for all, of 98%, 87%, 99% and 77% for clinically significant prostate cancer, respectively, indicate that MRI can avoid multiple biopsies and index lesions can be biopsied more reliable using cognitive fusion.
