In this study, the complex wounds of 17 patients stemming from the donor-site of a radial forearm flap and treated with autologous, intraoperatively prepared platelet-rich plasma (PRP) were compared with the wound healing process in an untreated control group (12 patients). The documentation was conducted postoperatively on days 10 and 60. The determination of platelet activity and the enrichment factor was conducted postoperatively immediately after intraoperative preparation of PRP. On day 10, a significantly improved wound and transplant healing was observed in the PRP group compared to the control group. On day 60, only the transplant healing was significantly better in the PRP group. An accelerated effect due to PRP on wound healing can be assumed.
