Falsely elevated concentrations of the immunosuppressants cyclosporine A and tacrolimus can be caused by reversible adsorption to central venous catheters if blood for therapeutic drug monitoring is taken from the same lumen previously used to infuse the drug. In this dissertation, this phenomenon was verified and quantified in vitro as well as in vivo. Elevated drug concentrations even occur after extensive rinsing. Thus, peripheral venipuncture is the safest way to obtain blood for therapeutic drug monitoring of immunosuppressants.     «

Durch reversible Adsorption der Immunsuppressiva Cyclosporin A und Tacrolimus an Zentralvenenkatheter (ZVKs) kann es zu falsch hohen Konzentrationen der Medikamente kommen wenn die Blutentnahme zur Konzentrationsbestimmung aus demselben Schenkel vorgenommen wird, durch den zuvor das Medikament infundiert wurde. In der vorliegenden Dissertation konnte dieses Phänomen sowohl in vitro als auch in vivo verifiziert und quantifiziert werden. Die erhöhten Werte treten auch noch nach extensiver Spülung auf, sodass der sicherste Weg bei therapeutischem Drug Monitoring von Immunsuppressiva eine Blutentnahme durch periphere Venenpunktion ist.     «
