- Increased abdominal pressure increases morbidity and mortality in critically ill patients. Gastric pressure (IGP) correlates adequately with both the intraperitoneal pressure (IPP) as well as with the conventional bladder pressure (IVP) (rs = 0.918 with IPP; rs = 0.991 with IVP).
