Alzheimer Disease is one of the most common diseases in elder people and affects about 10% of the population at the age of 65 years and above. As the prevalence is rising the social and economical burdens are growing. In this systematic review, the clinical effectivity and the cost-effectiveness of the currently used medication was evaluated. A line-up of the direct costs was constructed. Therefor we compared several randomised, controlled trials including more than 100 adult patients with a treatment period of at least 12 weeks. In summary, the medical treatment of AD with donepezil, rivastigmine, galantamine and memantine can be evaluated as clinical and economical effective.
