Der Nutzen von Fibrinogen und CRP zur Risikostratifizierung bei Patienten mit Erkrankungen der Herzkranzarterien ist bislang nicht belegt. Ziel dieser Studie was es, einen möglichen Zusammenhang zwischen der Fibrinogen und CRP-Konzentration im Blut und der Häufigkeit von kardiovaskulären Ereignissen bei Patienten mit koronarer Gefäßerkrankung zu untersuchen. Es zeigte sich, dass Fibrinogen-und CRP-Werte unabhängig von traditionellen kardiovaskulären Risikofaktoren einen Prädiktor der Mortalität bei diesen Patienten darstellen kann.
