Abstract:
Currently researchers as well as planners & decision makers are facing an increase in the amount and availability of spatial data in various forms. A growing amount of available data increases the complexity of spatial data analysis processes. Geovisualization tools and developments in this context assist the analysis of the spatial data and thereby contribute to a better understanding of how the data reflects real-world processes. A particular objective of this research is to investigate selected methods and processes, in particular the visual bandwidth selection for kernel density estimation and directed kernel density estimation to enhance a spatial data analysis process to improve knowledge discovery from spatial data.
