In the present paper the control strategies of Roy and Venturini for the 3x3 matrix converter topology are presented and analyzed. The main aim of the presented matrix converter is to be used with wind generator for grid connected applications. A comparison study between the two control strategies is achieved according to the quality of the output voltage and current under typical R-L load based on the THD evaluation. Simulation results are presented for the validation of the two control strategies and to clarify the main advantages and drawbacks of both strategies.
