Die Jahresabschlußprüfung ist aufgrund der erhöhten Anforderungen des Gesetzgebers und der Öffentlichkeit sowie aufgrund des Kostendrucks in einer schweren Krise. Sie muß nach neuen Lösungen suchen, um den Prozeß der Leistungserstellung effizienter zu gestalten und zugleich die Prüfungsqualität zu erhöhen. Diese Untersuchung stellt mit der Übertragung von Projektmanagement auf die Jahresabschlußprüfung einen solchen neuen Lösungsansatz vor. Die Untersuchung gliedert sich in die Analyse und Übertragung der Methoden und Instrumente des Projektmanagements in den Phasen Planung, Durchführung und Überwachung der Jahresabschlußprüfung. Die Methoden und Instrumente des Projektmanagements werden dabei an die Besonderheiten der Jahresabschlußprüfung angepaßt. Die Untersuchung beinhaltet außerdem eine empirische Umfrage in Deutschland und USA, in der die Anforderungen des wirtschaftsprüfenden Berufsstandes an ein Projektmanagement für die Jahresabschlußprüfung ermittelt und dargestellt werden.     «

Due to the increased legal and public requirements and due to the pressure in terms of costs the institution of the annual audit of financial statements is in a significant crisis. The German auditors have to seek for new solutions in order to perform the auditing process more efficiently and thereby to improve the quality of the audit. This doctoral thesis presents a new approach regarding the improvement of the auditing process via the application of project management. The study‘s main parts are an analysis, then a transfer process of the methods and instruments of project management divided into the subsequents steps of planning, performing and monitoring the auditing process. Thereby the methods and instruments of project management are adjusted to the special nature of the auditing process. The study also contains a survey in Germany and in the USA based on empirical data, in which the auditor’s demands to project management in the auditing process are identified and analysed.     «
