Extensive studies of 2-photon CD (TPCD) on 3-methylcyclopentanone are presented following the 1st TPCD expt. of gas phase mols. by R. Li et al. (2006). (2 + 1)-Multiphoton ionization in a specially designed time-of-flight mass analyzer was used to perform these studies. CD of 2-photon transitions from the mol. ground state to low lying Rydberg states is strongly enhanced with respect to corresponding 1-photon transitions in agreement with L. et al. Differences between CD values detd. via the mol. ion and via fragment ions indicate strong mol. ion CD effects. This would be the 1st time that CD of isolated mol. ions was measured.
