Die Leberzirrhose ist eine häufige Erkrankung mit hoher Mortalität. Systematische flächendeckende Daten zur Epidemologie der Komplikationen in Deutschland sind rar. Daher wurden in der prospektiven und multizentrischen Studie "SENSATION" an 38 Kliniken im Großraum München Häufigkeit und Verlauf von intensivpflichtigen Komplikationen einer End Stage Liver Disease untersucht. Die häufigsten Komplikationen waren gastrointestinale Blutungen (45,4%) sowie die hepatische Enzephalopathie (20,6%). Prädiktoren der Mortalität waren dabei ein SAPS II > 40, eine aktuelle oder vergangene Niereninsuffizienz und Aufnahme in ein Krankenhaus mit niedrigem Aufkommen an Patienten mit Leberzirrhose.      «

Liver cirrhosis is a frequent condition with a high mortality rate. Systematic area-wide data on epidemiology of its complications is rare. Thus the prospective and multicentric study "SENSATION" surveyed incidence and outcome of complications of End Stage Liver Disease, using a network of 38 hospitals in and around Munich. Gastrointestinal bleeding (45,4%) and hepatic encephalopathy (20,6%) were the most frequent complications. Predictors for mortality were a SAPS II > 40, current or passed renal failure and admission to a 'low volume center'.     «
