- Abstract:
- The subject of this thesis is the study of the production of W bosons in association with charm and bottom quark jets in proton-proton collisions at 7 TeV centre-of-mass energy with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The results confirm the predictions of perturbative QCD calculations. The measurement of the W + charm quark jets cross section provides important constraints for the determination of the strange quark content of the proton.

- Gegenstand dieser Dissertationsschrift ist die Untersuchung der Erzeugung von schwachen W-Bosonen in Verbindung mit Charm- und Bottomquark-Jets in Proton-Proton-Kollisionen bei 7 TeV Schwerpunktsenergie mit dem ATLAS-Detektor am Large Hadron Collider. Die Messergebnisse bestätigen die Vorhersagen perturbativer QCD-Rechnungen. Die Messung des W+Charmquark-Jets-Wirkungsquerschnitts liefert wichtige Randbedingungen für die Bestimmung der Strangequarkdichte des Protons.
