Nach Einsatz der Herz-Lungen-Maschine kommt es bei Neugeborenen mit einer hohen Inzidenz zu einer generalisierten Entzündungsreaktion, die in schlimmsten Fall zu einem Multiorganversagen führen kann. In dieser prospektiven, randomisierten und doppelblinden Studie wurde der Einfluss der präoperativen Gabe von 1mg/kg KG Dexamethason auf die Entzündungsreaktion geprüft. Hierfür wurden unter anderem die Zytokine IL-6 und IL-10 gemessen. Dexamethason vermochte die laborchemische Entzündungsreaktion zu unterdrücken, verbesserte jedoch das Outcome der Patienten nicht.     «

After extracorporeal circulation in newborn there is high incidence of systemic inflammatory response syndrome which can lead to a multiple organ dysfunction syndrome. The goal of this prospective, double-blind and randomized study was to determine the effect of preoperative administration of Dexamathasone in a dose of 1mg/kg on the inflammation and the clinical outcome of the patients. Among other parameters we measured the cytokines IL-6 and IL-10. Dexamethasone was able to suppress the laboratory inflammation but had no significant positive influence on the patients outcome.     «
