Die Langzeitergebnisse nach Implantation der Deltaprothese sind in der Gruppe der Defektarthropathie unabhängig von ihrer Ätiopathogenese als ermutigend zu bezeichnen. Als Hauptindikation gelten sämtliche Krankheitsbilder, bei denen die Destruktion bzw. Degeneration der Gelenkpartner von einer massiven, nicht rekonstruierbaren und pathomechanisch relevanten Rotatorenmanschetten-Defektsituation begleitet wird. Das Prinzip der inversen Schulterendoprothese beruht auf der Wiederherstellung eines dynamisch stabilen, kaudalisierten und medialisierten Drehzentrums bei einem intakten Deltamuskel. Die Nachuntersuchung ergab eine nahezu komplette Schmerzfreiheit, eine sehr gute Funktion bei guter Kraft. Für die Zukunft stellt die inverse Prothese weiterhin bei eindeutiger Indikationsstellung das Mittel der Wahl zur operativen Versorgung einer Defektarthropathie dar.     «

The long-time results after implantation the inverse shoulder prosthesis are promising. The indication is any painful shoulder arthropathy with insufficient and irreparable rotator cuff, especially primary defect arthropathy. The inverse shoulder replacement changes the orientation of the shoulder so that the normal socket (glenoid) now is replaced with an artificial ball, and the normal ball (humeral head) is replaced with an implant that has a socket into which the artificial ball rests. This type of design completely changes the mechanics of the shoulder and enables the artificial joint to function when the rotator cuff is either absent or when there is significant bone loss. All patients reported complete or almost complete freedom of pain. On the condition that the deltoid muscle was not damaged during previous surgery, a good improvement of power and function could be obtained. The inverse shoulder prosthesis is a good alternative way of treatment of serious degenerative alteration of the shoulder and massive Cuff arthropathy.     «
