Abstract:
The design of vehicle frontends is strongly influenced by pedestrian safety requirements. High computational effort and structural complexity make the examination of various variants with structural optimization methods difficult. A simplification approach for the frontend structure is proposed to reduce the computational effort for lower leg impacts considerably.
