In this thesis molecular imaging in a mouse model was used to establish a combined Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Mass Spectrometry Imaging (MSI) approach. The approach aimed for improved detection and quantification of Gadoflourine P deposition in scar formation and myocardial remodeling. For the first time, it could be shown that adding quantitative MSI to MR imaging enables a quantitative validation of Gadoflourine P distribution in the murine heart after experimental myocardial infarction.
