The treatment of acute acromioclavicular joint dislocation is still controversially discussed. The aim of this retrospective study was to investigate the clinical and radiological outcome after anatomic reconstruction of the acromioclavicular and coracoclavcicular ligaments using resorbable PDS-cerclages. Therefore 30 patients were examined after an average duration of 21 (6 – 36) months postoperatively. Short- to mid-term outcome provides good to excellent clinical results in the majority of cases. However, radiographically, the coracoclavicular distance increased significantly (3 mm) at final follow-up. But neither the amount of re-dislocation nor calcifications of the ligaments or osteoarthritis of the AC joint had a significant influence on the clinical outcome.
