In a 12-months study, intensive lifestyle changes, i.e. mediterranean diet and regular physical activity resulted in a progressive and significant improvement of several anthropometric and metabolic parameters in 32 obese men with newly manifested type 2 diabetes and testosterone deficiency. A combination of changes in lifestyle with testosterone substitution led to an even more pronounced significant improvement of treatment outcome. No adverse events or therapy complications were observed during testosterone substitution.
