Abstract:
Saving energy, promoting autonomous driving and improving safety: these are
important goals shared by many cities. But how exactly can we achieve them?
Geodata-based semantic city models are showing us the way. Prof. Thomas
H. Kolbe and his team research 3D models like this, which integrate a wide
range of data – on aspects including traffic, infrastructure, cell phone towers,
building structures and construction projects. They use these models for tasks
such as calculating the future energy consumption of residential buildings in
Munich up to 2035.
